Pomegranate Market is a locally owned natural foods store in Sioux Falls, dedicated to healthy living, organic ingredients, and exceptional customer service. Our Bistro serves fresh, clean, and delicious food made from scratch. We’re looking for a motivated and friendly Kitchen Assistant to join our team.

As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll play a key role in both food preparation and helping to maintain a clean and tidy working atmosphere. This is a hands-on position where you’ll support the kitchen team, participate in food production, and create a welcoming experience for our guests.

preferred qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Previous kitchen or customer service experience.
  • ServSafe certification (preferred, not required).
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills and follow instructions.
  • Eagerness to grow and develop through training and guidance

key responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness by washing dishes, sanitizing counters and prep areas, and cleaning dining spaces.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation laws and requirements at all times.
  • Monitor food quality and freshness and follow proper labeling and storage practices.
  • Dispose of and record all waste properly.
  • Assist with Inventory counts and report low or out of stock items to supervisors.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards or accidents immediately.
  • Prepare ingredients for use in recipes.
  • Operate juicers, mixers, ovens, knives, dishwashers, and other kitchen equipment safely.
  • Restock supplies and ensure the customer self-serve areas are full and fresh with the appropriate serving utensils.
  • Follow instructions and recipes precisely to ensure consistent quality and presentation.
  • Complete daily opening and closing list of station duties.
  • Complete Weekly Cleaning Task as assigned.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen and counter operations.
  • Assist with receiving and storing of deliveries.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service to our guests to ensure they feel welcomed and valued during their experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Kitchen and front-of-house operations.

physical requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and use of hands/fingers for food prep and service.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English with customers and team members.
  • Ability to read and write clearly in English to understand and follow recipes, as well as accurately record daily production and prep amounts.
