The 2012 Dirty Dozen Produce List
Each year the Environmental Working Group sets out to find the twelve most pesticide-drenched produce items, and they've updated their list!
Dirty Dozen Produce:
3. Sweet Bell Peppers
6. Imported Nectraines
11. Domestic Blueberries
Like last year's list, apples and celery still come in on top, while strawberries dropped a few places. New to the 2012 Dirty Dozen list are cucumbers. Keep this list in mind next time you're shopping for produce, as these twelve items are safest purchased organically. Also, view last year's dirty dozen list to see the changes. To keep you in the loop, look for the posters in Pomegranate Produce to guide you through which items are better to buy organic!
There are few changes this year to the "Clean Fifteen" produce items as well - those produce items treated with fewer pesticides which are safe to eat even if they're not organic.
The Clean 15:
2. Sweet Corn
6. Sweet Peas
11. Domestic cantaloupe
12. Sweet Potatoes
Produce is a great way to get the vitamins and nutrients your body needs to feel its best, so feed it the best with Pomegranate Market!
